Training project management

Training project management

With extensive experience and a proven track record, Xpertise can provide a total project management service to help organisations achieve project success.

The business need

Large-scale IT training projects can be complex, with numerous events and resources to co-ordinate. Ensuring that training projects stay on time and to budget can be a time-consuming diversion of resources – this requires specialist skills.

The solution

Xpertise can project-manage large training projects, freeing the client’s time and applying specialist skills and experience to keep projects on track.

Our approach

Xpertise starts by understanding the logistical framework of the training programme, including budget, expectations, geography and timescales. The vehicle for this would usually be a Business Objectives Workshop. If required, we can also perform Training Needs Analysis to verify the validity and approach of the project. We then work with the client to determine the solution, major milestones, risks and dependencies.

The client must decide on the level of responsibility to be managed by Xpertise and how much resource from the client’s business will be utilised for the project’s management and administration.

With these fundamentals agreed on, a basic project plan can be drafted and then approved. In addition to containing timescales for activities, the project plan will document responsibilities, points of contact and lines of communication. Xpertise will act as project manager, controlling and co-ordinating events and resources. The project manager will be able to draw on the Xpertise skills and resources to help to co-ordinate and manage the project, using specialist skills, where required.

Project sign-off will take place against agreed objectives, with a final, overall sign-off and sign-off for specific project elements as determined.

Service deliverables

The Business Objectives Workshop will often uncover elements of the project which require adjustment or perhaps major risks to the project. The project plan provides a vehicle to track and manage the project. The client’s time is freed to focus on its core business, with the assurance that the project is being managed by IT training/project management specialists.
