Overview
During this course, systems administrators and engineers will gain valuable additional hands-on experience of the advanced features of VMware ESX Server building on the concepts learned during HB513s. All students will be given a FREE Exam Voucher.
Prerequisites
Attendance on course HB513s is mandatory. This course is intended for systems administrators and engineers who implement VMware environments.
Course Outline
In addition to the lecture and demonstration, the class will be provided exercises that are to be done by the students on hardware provided. The style of the training will be an Instructor led workshop; flexible within the capabilities of the available equipment. Subject areas that can be covered are:
- Task scheduling with VirtualCenter
- Creating virtual machines using ESX tools
- Cloning Virtual Machines using ESX tools
- Extending a VMFS
- Using VLANs
- Accessing Windows shares for centralised ISO storage
- Resource management using ESX tools
- Access control using Service Console security
- Virtual Machine access to LUNs
- Virtual Machine deployments using ESX tools
- Backup and restore using vmsnap.pl and vmres.pl
- Boot ESX from SAN
