Overview
This course is designed for delegates who wish to write AIX shell scripts and utilities. The course teaches delegates programming concepts such as flow control, loops and conditional testing as well as the practical side of implementing shell scripts for system administration of an AIX system.
Prerequisites
Delegates must have a thorough knowledge of the AIX operating system. This knowledge can be gained by attending course AC13GB (AIX Basics). Delegates would also benefit from having AIX system administration skills. These skills can be gained by attending course AU14GB (AIX V4 System Administration I: Implementation).
Delegates will learn how to
- Understand and customise existing system shell scripts
- Distinguish Korn Shell specific features
- Use utilities such as sed and awk to manipulate data
- Write useful shell scripts which aid system administration
