Overview

This course is intended for Application Developers, System Analysts, Database Administrators and Technical Support Personnel. This course introduces delegates to PL/SQL and helps them understand the benefits of this powerful programming language. Delegates learn to create PL/SQL blocks of application code that can be shared by multiple forms, reports and data management applications. Delegates also learn how to create procedures, functions, packages and database triggers. iSQL*Plus is used to develop these program units. Finally, delegates learn how to manage PL/SQL program units and database triggers to manage dependencies, to manipulate large objects and to use some of the Oracle-supplied packages.
Prerequisites
Delegates must have some experience of working with iSQL*Plus. Delegates should also have attended course SQLINT (Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL) or SQLEXP (Introduction to Oracle9i for Experienced SQL Users). Some 3GL programming experience or awareness of programming constructs and techniques would be beneficial.
Delegates will learn how to
- Describe the features and syntax of PL/SQL
- Handle run-time errors Create, execute and maintain procedures, functions, packages and triggers
