In this course, delegates learn to install Oracle9i Application Server and effectively administer and monitor an Internet application environment. After an introduction to Oracle9i Application Server architecture, delegates gain hands-on experience configuring some components of the Oracle HTTP Server, Apache Jserv, and Oracle PL/SQL module.
Prerequisites
Delegates should have knowledge of Unix and a basic knowledge of the Web environment.

ARCHITECTURE AND SERVER COMPONENTS:
The N-Tier computing model; Oracle9i Application Server architecture; Oracle HTTP Server; data and application caching services; tools and services; development and runtime components; system services; HTTP communication model; load-balancing
INSTALLATION:
Identifying software and hardware requirements; performing pre-installation tasks; using the Oracle universal installer; describing installation types; performing post-installation tasks; configuring the Oracle database cache
MANAGING ORACLE HTTP SERVER:
Web server overview; understanding the Oracle HTTP Server architecture; using directives to configure the Oracle HTTP Server; monitoring the Oracle HTTP Server; starting and stopping the Oracle HTTP Server; using virtual hosts; using container directives to control the Oracle HTTP Server; understanding content handling and negotiation; using aliases

MANAGING SERVLETS, JAVA STORED PROCEDURES AND JAVASERVER PAGES:
Testing the Apache JServ installation; configuring mod_JServ and mod_ose; configuring the Java side of Apache JServ; starting multiple Java virtual machines; configuring Apache JServ for performing servlets and Oracle Javaserver pages; troubleshooting Apache JServ
MANAGING PL/SQL, CGI, AND PERL APPLICATIONS:
Configuring mod_plsql for PL/SQL applications; configuring mod_cgi for common gateway interface scripts; configuring mod_perl for the use of perl
MANAGING ORACLE DATABASE CACHE:
Invoking cache manager from DBA studio; adding tables to a cache; specifying a synchronization policy for each cached table
TROUBLESHOOTING ORACLE DATABASE CACHEING:
Identifying the location of Oracle Database cache error log files; identifying techniques to troubleshoot a query routing problem; listing causes and solutions for data synchronization problems; explaining how to correct typical cache errors
