Overview
Most organisations recognise that change is both vital and inevitable. Successful organisations recognise that they need to be in control of change, rather than let it manage them, and use projects to transform business aspirations into tangible results. But too often projects miss delivery dates, run over budget or simply fail to deliver. There are many reasons for these failures, but broadly speaking they tend to be managerial rather than technical. In particular, far too many projects rely on trial and error rather than harnessing existing best practices.
PRINCE2 is a structured project management method widely used in the public and private sectors. It is the recommended approach to all major projects within the UK government and is built around a series of best practice processes. It was originally developed for IS and communications projects but can be applied to all kinds of project.
