When is a project a programme?

In as much as many people ask me to talk about the difference between project work and business as usual, when I look out into the world I see a lot of what are projects called programmes, and vice versa. “Not the end of the world, don’t you have some marking to do?” You might ask but actually, it is important as how you deal with the two is very, very different.

The area that most PRINCE2 delegates I teach seem to struggle with is the controls component. I think one reason is that the chapter is so big and frankly, it’s not exactly a riveting read.

One of the very best aspects of PRINCE2 is that it is flexible and scaleable. It can be used in any environment in any project, as the good book says. As I go through classes with delegates we usually get on to the subject of scalability, particularly in their own environments. In this blog I thought I would give you my thoughts on this powerful area of PRINCE2.

Staying in hotels

One of the big advantages of working for a large successful training company is the opportunities for travel. In my time working for Xpertise I have stayed in many, many hotels so I thought in this blog I would share some of the tips I have picked up to make staying in a hotel more comfortable. Bear in mind I tend to stay in hotels for a week at a time and on my own so most of these tips apply to that although they can work at other times too.
